Course Objective

This course aims the most efficient use of natural sources in accordance with the cultural demands and requirements in the longest period, recognition of landscape planning in the content of national physical planning for conversation of the natural/ecological balance of the national landscape, and examination of integration opportunities of landscape planning within the theoretical and institutional planning structure.

2   Recognize the factors that lead to ecological problems,
3   Recognize the importance of upper-scale approach to nature conservation,
4   Distinguish the importance of a holistic approach to nature protection,
5   Criticize the current planning system in the context of nature conservation,
6   Recognize the importance of landscape planning.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Description and scope of the course and studies on the basic concepts of the course.
2 Interaction of landscape planning as a type of a physical planning with other types of planning.
3 Nature conservation as a sectoral planning, the concept of ecosystem, its features, and ecosystem groups in the biosphere.
4 City as an urban - industrial ecosystem, the qualitative deterioration of the ecological factors, the general situation of the environmental problems and relation of ecological problems with urbanization.
5 Environmental protection, the concept of environment according to different perspectives, anthropogenic environmental change stages depending on the social development.
6 Conceptual examination of environmental protection and nature conservation approaches.
7 Midterm examination
8 The concept of biological - ecological environmental protection and, the concept of technological - hygienic environmental protection and its relationship with planning.
9 Recreational planning as sectoral planning.
10 Urban green space planning.
11 Examination of the accumulation of the country's institutional structure and legislation within the scope of landscape planning
12 Presentations of homework.
13 National landscape values.
14 Physical planning approach aimed at protecting the ecological balance.
