Course Objective

The aim of this course is to give isolation and purification techniques of classes of natural compounds from plants, chromatographic and spectroscopic methods used in their structural identification and innovations in these techniques.

1   Classify the natural Compounds
2   Have knowledge of the Isolation techniques for classes of natural compounds from plants
3   Have knowledge of the Purification techniques of classes of natural compounds
4   Have knowledge of chromatographic and spectroscopic methods used in structural identification of natural compounds
5   Follow the new developments and techniques in this field

1 Classification of natural compounds, way of structural indentification
2 Flavonoids and chromatographic analysis; gas chromatography applications, UV and NMR spectral analyzes
3 Lipids, steroids, and chromatographic analysis
4 Alkaloids and their chromatographic and spectroscopic analyzes
5 Terpenoids and their chromatographic and spectroscopic analyzes
6 Carbohydrates and their chromatographic and spectroscopic analyzes
7 NMR technique in structural identification of complex compounds
8 Structural identification of natural compounds by using ` Chiroptical" features
9 NOE applications for determining distances between nuclei of natural compounds
10 Proton and C-13 determinations of biologically active natural compounds and modern 2D NMR techniques
