Course Objective

In recent years there have been remarkable advances in high technology that have revolutionized telecommunications, computing , and information circuits, microprocessors, and electromagnetic radiation detectors and emitters have played key roles in this revolution. In large measure these devices are based upon semiconductors as the active materials.
In this course, our aim is to understand the phsyics of low dimensional semiconductor structures.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Being able to understand of electronic properties in semiconductor heterostructures.
2   Being able to learn of phonons in low-dimensional systems.
3   Being able to learn of theory of electron transport in low-dimensional semiconductor structures.
4   Being able to understand of low-dimensional structures as quantum wires and quantum dots.
