Course Objective

Highway geometric design entails the design of geometric elements of a highway and fixation of standards with respect to various components. In this course, lectures will focus to design of geometric elements of a highway and urban road includes route; sight distances; horizontal alignment design and vertical alignment design etc. and the aim of this course is to increase students' knowledge and skills on these issue.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To define related to geometric elements of a highway
2   To give information about design concepts of geometric elements of a highway
3   To review the literature about the highway geometric elements and applications.
4   With the developing technology to assess improvements on the design of geometric elements of a highway
5   To decide on the method of solution to the problems encountered in the design of geometric elements of a highway
