Course Objective

In this course it is aimed to give give information about the data collection procedures of transportation facilies which will be used in their performance analysis.

3   To sort and analyze collected data
4   To interpret relationship between different parameters of traffic flow.
5   To drive practical results from outcomes which depend on collected traffic data

1 Basic traffic flow variables (speed, flow and density)
2 Counting and observation methods.
3 Measuring speed, flow, density and headways by a fixed observer
4 Moving observer method.
5 Delay and parking surveys.
6 Pedestrian survey, homework assignment
7 First mid-term exam
8 Questionnaire and prediction methods.
9 Fundamental functions of traffic flow.
10 Capacity and different capacity definitions
11 Relationship between capacity and road geometric parameters
12 Design of a highway with respect to traffic flow prediction
13 Second mid-term exam
14 Home-work presentaitons
