Course Objective

To learn the protective textiles and related fiber types, chemical, thermal and flame, nuclear, radar, electromagnetic protecting and also wet finishing processes and test methods applicable for UV and antimicrobial textiles which are important for the human health.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Protective textiles in Turkey and determine where in the world economy
2   Learning and usage of defense textiles and structures, fibers and their properties
3   Learn about the properties of various fibers used in protective textiles, textiles of this type to have detailed information about the chemical and physical processes
4   Identify the parameters that are effective UV protection and making optimization
5   Identify the factors that affect the permeability of pesticides
6   Recognize the environment protective textile structures, components and fibers

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

In this course, previous researches in the related literature are discussed and class presentations are performed by the students. Laboratory practices for chemical processes are performed in accordance with theoretical lessons. The students will be responsible for homework presentaiton about designing a protective textile.
