Course Objective

Geological parameters affecting a stone block s usage as a block marble source. Defining the parameters which are variable according to stone types, classifying, determination and estimation methods on field. Defining the sizes, efficiency percentage and production planning of the blocks to be produced from these quarries and by the means of these parameters.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be informed of commercial block efficiency in relation with the rock types.
2   Ability to analyze commercial block efficiency in relation with engineering geology
3   Ability to interpret the factors effecting block efficiency in relation with rock types
4   Ability to raise awareness on engineering geology about the practices of natural stone mining.
5   Ability to use engineering techniques and modern engineering equipment
