Course Objective

Marine Ecotoxicology and Risk Assessment of marine ecosystem
Aims
1. To develop the ability of asking clear questions that unable suitable study design
in Ecotoxicology
2. To provide the criteria useful for designing field sampling in aquatic systems and
select experimental procedures for toxicity testing
Objectives:
At the end of the course you should be able to:
3. Have identified the main questions that can be addressed by the use of bioassays
4. Have gained knowledge of the advanced methods for determination of ecotoxicity of
water and sediments
5. Be able to understand the role of toxicity testing into an integrative risk
assessment of the aquatic ecosystems

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   the students will be able to know the quality of the marine ecosystem
2   the students will be able to participate ın a post-hoc scientific discussion about the subject presented during a seminar
3   the students will be able to write an accurate, comprehensive synthesis of a scientific talk
4   the students will learn all the toxicity bioessays for many chemical compounds and toxics
5   the students will be able to know about the effects of polluants on biological and physical process and on human health.
6   Clear expression (oral or written) of conclusions from results derived form bioassays
7   It is suitable for graduates interested in obtaining a qualification in human and environmental health
8   as well as students already in full time employment working for industry, contract laboratories or government agencies, who require either formal qualifications or intend to revalidate their qualifications in toxicology
