Course Objective

The aim of this Course is to introduce the structure, properties and behavior of important engineering materials with an emphasis on their geothermal applications while at the same time, enabling the student to gain awareness about the relationship between the selection of materials and their performance during such applications.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   An ability to explain the basic structure and differences among the physical and chemical properties of engineering materials,
2   An ability to express the behavior of engineering materials in geothermal applications,
3   An ability to identify causes of material degradation observed in geothermal applications,
4   An ability to select materials suitable for geothermal applications,
5   An ability to conduct written and oral presentations related to materials performance in geothermal applications.
