Course Objective


This course is intended to give the student a greater understanding of the scope of Operations Management decisions and the types of tools that might be employed to help manage the decision-making process. The objectives of the course are: to provide an understanding of the management of operations and production, to build both quantitative and qualitative skills in operations management, and to gain an appreciation of the strategic importance of operations. The main focus will be on quantitative techniques for problem solving and decision making in a variety of strategic and tactical areas of operations management, including Forecasting, Capacity Planning, Layout Strategies, Inventory Management, Aggregate Planning, Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and Scheduling.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To make the students aware of operations management decisions and the tools that help the decision-making process
2   To develop both quantitative and qualitative skills of the students in operations management
3   To enable the students use quantitative techniques for solving the operations management issues and related softwares
