Course Objective

The main purpose of this course is to give a broad overview of what is meant by risk and the way in which it influences decisions made in applications, to describe some of the tools and techniques used in risk management in a broad range of applications, to describe systems and techniques that could be used by the users.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   The students who succeeded in this course will understand the spatial and quantitive aspects of hazard, vulnerability and risk.
2   The students who succeeded in this course will be able to map the elements at risk.
3   The students who succeeded in this course will be able to perform spatial data analysis and integration.
4   The students who succeeded in this course will carry out loss estimation for various disasters.
5   The students who succeeded in this course will apply multi-criteria analysis for decison making.
6   The students who succeeded in this course will be able to perform cost-benefit analysis for various disaster risk reduction projects.
