Course Objective

Objectives of the course are to discuss industrial pollution sources and treatment technologies for each industry, to provide a basic description and understanding of the main technologies and processes for industrial wastewater treatment.

4 Principles and applications of physicochemical treatment processes: flotation, coagulation-flocculation
5 Principles and applications of physicochemical treatment processes: membrane filtration, ozonation, photolysis and advanced chemical oxidation processes.
6 Stripping in industrial wastewater treatment
7 First Mid-Term Exam
8 Anaerobic biological treatment of industrial wastewaters
9 Treatability assessment based on wastewater properties
10 Treatment of pharmaceutical wastes
11 Treatment of power industry wastes
12 Case studies for major industrial wastes: pulp and paper, textile and food industry

14 Fundamentals of the minimization of industrial wastewaters
