Course Objective

In the course the students should be able to define biosensors as analytical devices incorporating a biological material integrated within a physicochemical transducer, or transducing microsystem, which may be optical, electrochemical, thermometric, piezoelectric or magnetic. In addition the students will learn where and which purposes the biosensors can be used.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Gain an ability how a biosensor is prepared
2   Gain ability to design biosensors
3   Gain an insight about type of transducers used in biosensors
4   Be able to understand the important performance factors in biosensors
5   To explore and compare the advantages/disadvantages of using methods
6   Be able to review, compare and interpret the results of the research about biosensors.
