Course Objective

Stem cells in the human development comprise an adult organism from a single cell with their proliferation and differentiation capabilities, these features make them the main element of the human development.
Today, because stem cells take place in the center of cellular therapies, intensive works are in progress on them by biologists, medical researchers and biotechnologists. Cells obtained from embryos or adult organisms are used in the studies such as; - control of embryogenesis, - cell renewal and differentiation, - examination of gene expression in livings, - drug development, treatment of diseases.
In our country, there is a great need for experienced researchers for the use of stem cells in biotechnology. This course will contribute to the training of researchers in this field.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Student will gain a strong basis of stem cells.
2   Students will develop understanding of the possible uses of these cells in various diseases.
3   Students will develop understanding of the possible uses of these cells in various diseases.
4   Students will develop understanding the relation of stem cells with cancer.
5   Students will develop understanding on the future of stem cells in regenerative medicine.
