Course Objective

In the concept of this course, the students will learn to fundamentals of electrophoretic methods that used to separate, identify and quantify biomolecules in medicine especially biochemistry and aimed to be known importance of samples in different fields.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   know principles of electrophoresis and discuss to application fields,
2   know principles of isoelectric focusing and comprehend the importance,
3   explain to principles of polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and discuss to application fields,
4   explain two-dimensional (2D) gel electrophoresis and discuss to applications in biochemistry and medicine,
5   have knowledge about applications of immunodiffusion and immunoelectrophoresis and give examples on the applications in medicine.

Meaningful learning of the basic concepts given in presentations, association of concepts with each other, establishing the cause-result relationships and making comments by using the information available for problems and evaluating idea generation are carried out with mid-term and final exams, active participation to the lecture, homework.
