Course Objective

Memory Studies is one of the most effective interdisciplinary fields of today. Collective memory, cultural memory, memory spaces, cultural environments, visual and auditory recording methods are the main components of this field. Artists, photographers, can become a memory instrument over time, can represent collective memory, or they can form building blocks of cultural memory. The aim of the course is to learn the related memory types, to examine the relationship and interaction of collective memory and cultural memory with art from an interdisciplinary perspective and examples.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   The students who take the lesson, will have knowledge about meaning and significance of ` Memory in Classical Culture,
2   They will have knowledge about Memory Studies
3   They will evaluate related memory theories in photography context
4   They will define mnemonic functionality of photography
5   They will design projects in this context.
