Course Objective

Individuals or groups increase their ownership of the decisions affecting their lives if they are part of decision-making process. For this reason, the participation mechanisms should be diversified and should be used effectively. Local level is regarded as the closest level to the public. Therefore, it is intended to evaluate participation mechanisms at local level, governance practices, the ownership of the decisions taken at local degree, local actors etc. in this course.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To obtain information about contemporary participation mechanisms at local level.
2   To analyze the actors at local level.
3   To evaluate governance practices at local level.
4   To develop strategies to increase the level of ownership of the decisions taken at local level.
