Course Objective

It is generally recommended by national and international institutions administrating graduate training that students should acquire skills in education. With this perpective, biochemistry practicals designed systematically within the framework of a credited course will provide the graduate student skills in practical education which will later be useful in his/her career, whether he/she works as an academician or in other platforms. The course is designed with this aim. The following main points will be discussed: status of practicals in biochemistry education; responsibilites of the educator (instructor) and of the student; types of practicals and their objectives, evaluation of practicals .

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Understand the concept of practicals in biochemistry which is one of the main components of biochemistry education
2   Understand the theory beneath practical biochemistry education .
3   Be able to analyze critically the major concepts lying beneath practical biochemistry education (Ex. Different types of practicals, similarities, differences)
4   Prepare a new biochemistry practical protocol.
5   Demonstrate the basic practical skills involved in the biochemistry practicals.
