Course Objective

The course aims to build an insight about the components of the immune system, their interactions, immune responses and the regulation at molecular, cellular and systems levels.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Be able to define the description, general properties, and position among the life forms of viruses.
2   Be able to define the structural properties of viruses.
3   .Be able to define the classifications of viruses.
4   Be able to define the life cycles of viruses.
5   Be able to define the pathogenesis of viral infections in humans and connect the immune responses with the underlying mechanisms.
6   Be able to define the laboratory diagnosis of viral infections.
7   Be able to define the prevention and therapy strategies against the virus infections.

6 Viral replication 2 (DNA/RNA and protein synthesis)
7 Viral replication 3 (viral assembly and leaving from the cell)
9 Viral pathogenesis
10 Laboratory diagnostic methods in clinical virology
11 Prevention and therapeutic strategies against the viral infections
12 Subviral agents, viroids and prions
13 Final examination
