Course Objective

Adaptation to terminology of medical microbiology, learning of general properties of bacteria, microbial flora, interaction of bacteria and host, antibacterial agents and sterilization, disinfection and antisepsis.
Providing awareness for important bacteria in clinical microbiology

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Be able to define general properties and life forms of bacteria.
2   Understanding microbial flora and interaction between the host and bacteria.
3   Be able to define antibacterial agents, the mechanism of action and resistance
4   Be able to define sterilization, disinfection and antisepsis
5   Be able to define the pathogenesis of bacterial infections in humans, the laboratory diagnosis of bacterial infections and the prevention and therapy strategies against the bacterial infections.
