Course Objective

Comparison of anatomic, physiologic and biologic characteristics of different animals which are used in experimental animal studies, prioritizing the advantages in model animal selection of these characteristics are aimed

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to understand general characteristics of laboratory animals,
2   To be able to assimilate basic information about production, breeding techniques, nutrition and housing of laboratory animals
3   To be able to use this information that assimilated in planning and practicing basic researches.
4   To be able to understand how to use gained information to reach new information sources
5   To be able to perceive anesthesia and surgical practices within basic laboratory principles
6   To be able to express the information gained clearly in scientific environment.
7   To be able to use his/her basic knowledge and skills in different laboratory animal facilities
8   To be able to integrate occupational ethics concept with this course
