The purpose of this course is to achieve a necessary understanding of the rise of the intellectual class of the Ottomans, their search for identity and missions.

2   The differences between the Western and Ottoman intelectuals
3   The role of the intellectuals after the period of reforms
4   The struggle of the Ottoman government for the formation of supper identity
5   The Ottoman thought movements
