Course Objective

The purpose of this course is to achieve a necessary understanding of the foundation and its transition from a state to an empire.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Present the literature on early periods of the Ottoman Empire
2   Introduce the history-myth discussions on the foundation of the Ottoman Empire
3   Discuss the foundation of the Ottoman Empire
4   Give information about the expansion and settlement of the Ottoman Empire
5   Discuss the expansion politics and institutions of the Ottoman Empire in terms of its transition from a state to an empire.
