Course Objective

The purpose of this course is to enable the students to understand the steps taken on the way to be Roman Empire by examining the political and social events occurring in the period between the foundation of Rome and the fall of Western Roman Empire, and to perform comparisons by establishing links with the other areas of history.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Have the scientific literature related to the content of the course.
2   Define the main concepts and facts related to the subject.
3   Explain the origins of Roman society and its relationships with Anatolia.
4   Explain the effect of Roman state tradition on the different political formations in terms of the administrative organization to the present day.
5   Analyze the management and organization constituted in the states of the Roman Empire and the position of Anatolia in this structure.
6   State the policies pursued by the Roman Dynasties.
7   Evaluate the reasons leading to the decline of the Roman Empire stepwise by making comparisons with similar historical events.
