Course Objective

The purpose of this course is to achieve a necessary understanding of the history of modern Turkish societies.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1. The concept and basis of the modern Turkish societies
2   2. The development of Islam and education in Turkistan and the process in which Turkistan became a part of Soviet Union
3   3. The development of the ideology of Pan-Turkism
4   4. The assimilation of Turks urged by the Soviet Union in Moscow and the similarities between this process and other assimilation examples from all over the world
5   5. The developments and changes in Turkish societies after the dissolution of the Soviet Union
