Course Objective

The purpose of this course is to achieve a necessary understanding of the process of peace and establishment of union among European countries which have internal and external conflicts with each other.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1. The scope and basis of the European Union
2   2. The phases of development of modern Europe whose origin can be traced to the Middle
3   3. The relationships between the struggles for raw materials and energy resources after the Industrial Revolution and the formation of the basis of the European Union
4   4. The process of integration of Europe whose members had battles and made peaces with each other
5   5. The shift from a union for coal and steel to a union for a common market and the contributions of the European Union to the democracy in Europe
6   6. The reasons of the delay of Turkey s European Union membership that is a process started in 1959
7   7. The regional alliances in the world and the position of the European Union

7 The expansion and criterions of the European Union in the period of Cold War and after
8 The term examination
9 The relationships between Turkey and the European Economic Community
10 The viewpoints of different parties in Turkey to the European Economic Community
11 The institutions of the European Union
12 The transmition from an economic union to a political union; The possible effects of Turkey s European Union membership
13 The possible effects of Turkey s European Union membership I
14 The possible effects of Turkey s European Union membership II
