Course Objective

Aims of the course are to describe diagnostic imaging instruments, to perform acceptance tests, quality control, and calibration and to evaluate image quality. However, the other aim of this course is also to teach dose assessment on the imaging instruments and radiation safety.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Able to describe Computed Tomography (CT) and to perform acceptance tests, calibration and quality control tests of CT.
2   Able to describe Fluoroscopy and C-armed equipment and to perform acceptance tests, calibration and quality control tests of them
3   Able to describe Mammography and to perform acceptance tests, calibration and quality control tests of it
4   Able to describe Magnetic Resonance Imaging equipment and to perform acceptance tests, calibration and quality control tests of it
5   Able to describe Ultrasonography and to perform acceptance tests, calibration and quality control tests of it
6   Able to describe DEXA equipment and to perform acceptance tests, calibration and quality control tests of it
7   Being able to provide radiation protection and radiation safety of these equipment
8   Able to evaluate the relationship between image quality and dose in these equipment

8 Conventional and Digital Mammography Systems
9 The parameters affecting image quality in mammography and methods of dose measurement
10 Acceptance testing and quality control studies on Mammography
11 Magnetic Resonance Imaging equipment and theory
12 Relaxation Times (T1 and T2), Obtaining MR image, MR sequences. DEXA systems and applications
13 Ultrasound(US) systems, and technical specifications
14 Practices on Ultrasound
