Course Objective

To teach principles of law, maritime law and their details.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Identifying the legal environment of maritime transport
2   Analyzing the environment of maritime transport within the framework of related legal norms
3   Critizing the problems which arise during the application of legal norms of maritime transport
4   Attributing the application of national and international regulations related with maritime transport
5   Interpreting orally or writtenly the solutions regarding the legal problems arise in maritime transport

5 Introductiıon to Maritime law; cabotage and class companies
6 Flag and ship registries
7 Midterm Week
8 Important persons in maritime law; ship-owner, ownership participation, master and seamen
9 Important contracts in maritime law; towage contract, ship hire contract, time charter contract
10 Important documents in maritime law; board documents, bill of lading, transport documents
11 Liabilities of carrier, time-bar, exoneration reasons
12 Limitation of liability of carrier, rights of carrier
13 General Average
14 Collision and Salvage
