Course Objective

To create a composition, and to learn and practice the basic methods of forming a painting; such as the creation of volume and depth with colors.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To utilize oil paint at a fundamental level.
2   Figurative painting with oil paint.
3   Study of objects and space with oil paint.
4   To be able to create a story in painting.
5   To be able to form projects with the individual works.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Decision of the fundamental concept to be applied during the semester, and the announcement of the projects to be made. Examination of similar examples.
2 Selection of the materials to be used, making of preliminary sketches, presentation of resources about the project.
3 Application of the project, informing about oil painting technique, applied demonstration of basic rules.
4 Application of the project, informing about oil painting technique, applied demonstration of basic rules.
5 Application of the project, demonstration of practical applications of making colors with oil paint.
6 Application of the project, demonstration of practical applications on the possibilities of creating volume with oil paint.
7 Application of the project, evaluation on the artistic perception of oil paint.
8 Application of the project, evaluation on various possibilities of composition and fiction.
9 Application of the project, thematic integrity in art, inquiry with classical and contemporary examples.
10 Application of the project, evaluation on the differences between the acts of quoting, imitating and adaptation in art.
11 Application of the project, evaluation of the possibilities of turning non-art materials to art objects.
12 Application of the project, mixed-media applications, evaluation on possibilities of creative composition.
13 Application of the project, evaluation on spirituality that leads figurative and abstract perception in art.
