Course Objective

To be able to perform at least 1 instrument in a vocalizible level with tonal (piano,guitar, etc.) or modal/maqam (baglama, oud, classical kemancha) charachteristics.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Perform minimum 1 instrument in a vocalizible level with tonal (piano,guitar, etc.) or modal/maqam (baglama, oud, classical kemancha) charachteristics.
2   Identify the different performing styles in different music genres and play with the choosen instrument.
3   Play the choosen instrument correctly to the technical capabilities(posibilities,features ) of the instrument.
4   Refer to the notes and show them on the choosen instrument.
5   Indicate the key and maqam scales on the choosen instrument.
6   Play the performed songs properly to the required metronom.
7   Perform the required nuances for the performed song.

1 Piano: Deciding a piano piece for suitible level. Synthesizeer: Introducing the features of synthesizer. Bass:Notes on the keyboard. Guitar:The properties of guitar and tuning the instrument
2 Piano: Practicing the pieces. Scales an arpeggios. Synthesizeer: Definition and function of MIDI. Bass:First three frets on E and A strings. Guitar: High E String, The notes in the high E string, Technical Exercises, Sample Pieces.
3 Piano: Practicing etudes toward piano pieces. Synthesizeer: Definition and function of MIDI application; slave-master. Bass: First three frets on D string and exercises. Guitar: B string, The notes in the high E string, Technical Exercises, Sample Pieces.
4 Piano: Age and stylistic features of piano pieces. Synthesizeer: MIDI applications. Bass: First five frets in G string and melodic exercises. Guitar: G string, The notes in the high E string, Technical Exercises, Sample Pieces
5 Piano: Piano pedals. Synthesizeer: MIDI applications. Bass: Major and minor scales on bass. Guitar: D string, The notes in the high E string, Technical Exercises, Sample Pieces
6 Piano: Practicing accurate tempos and dynamics of pieces and etudes. Synthesizeer: Introduction of program sounds and their usage. Bass: Finger exercises for major and minor scales. Guitar: A string, The notes in the high E string, Technical Exercises, Sample Pieces
7 Piano: Chromatic scale, desiding new pieces and sihgt reading. Synthesizeer: Introduction of program sounds and their usage. Bass: Modes of octave, dominant and subdominant . Guitar:Low E string, The notes in the high E string, Technical Exercises, Sample Pieces
8 Piano: Technique and musical expression studies toward ages and genres of pieces. Synthesizeer: Introduction of program sounds and their usage. Bass: Finger exercises. Guitar:Technical Exercises and Pieces
9 Mid-term exam.
10 Piano: Desiding new pieces and scales and arpeggios. Synthesizeer: Introduction of combination sounds and their usage. Bass: Concept of chord, chord constructions. Guitar:Open Position Guitar Chords, Sample Pieces
11 Piano: Practicing accurate tempos and dynamics of pieces and etudes. Synthesizeer: Introduction of combination sounds and their usage. Bass: Playing major chords and exercises. Guitar:Open Position Guitar Chords, Sample Pieces
12 Piano: Technique and musical expression studies. Synthesizeer: Modulation whell and their functions. Bass: Playing minor chords and exercises. Guitar:Powerchords and Sample Pieces
13 Continuation of the previous lesson. Synthesizer: Pitch bend and their funvtions. Bass: Genereal exercises. Guitar:Barre (Moveable) Chords and Sample Pieces and 7th Chords (Dominant, Maj 7, min7) , Sample Pieces.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Lectures will be held individual to student based on practice (including instrument performing) and by teaching theoretical information that will support the practice.
