Course Objective

Turkish Cinema History IV course has been opened as a common and theoretical lesson for all departments of Department of Film Design.
The aim, content and expected contribution to the students of this course is as follows:
Students taking this course are expected to
1. understand the films of pioneer directors of New Age in Turkish cinema especially after 1994, such as Nuri Bilge Ceylan, Zeki Demirkubuz, Derviş Zaim, Reha Erdem etc.
2. analyse the directors films and their cinema language; know the novelties that existing cinema concepts have contributed to our cinema; and comment on these novelties,
3. explain the cinema concepts of Turkish cinema auteur directors: Metin Erksan and Ömer Kavur,
4. learn and know the novelties that these directors have contributed to our cinema.


Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   know and exemplify the films, indicate and criticize the cinema concepts of New Age pioneers of Turkish cinema: Nuri Bilge Ceylan, Zeki Demirkubuz, Derviş Zaim, Reha Erdem etc.
2   explain the differences between the cinema language and styles of directors and compare them,
3   comment, analyse and compare the films of directors,
4   . explain, compare, comment and analyse the novelties the directors savvies have contributed to Turkish cinema,
5   identify the cinema savvies of Metin Erksan and Ömer Kavur, who have contributed to Turkish cinema a lot; compare and comment the films of New Age Turkish cinema directors;
