Course Objective

The aim of this course is to encourage creativity and open new techniques and horizons in cinema. Get to know better and make practical works in the context of experimental film, which have attributes, defined as "avant-garde", "leading", "independent" and "underground cinema". To do some practical works characteristic of the experimental films.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Watch the examples of selected experimental movies and discuss about it,
2   Understand what is experimental film,
3   Writting the synopsis, original story and script for experimental film.,
4   Shooting the short experimental film,
5   Understanding pre-production, production and post-production phases in experimental film,
6   To make an original experimental film not longer than five minutes.;

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Watch selected parts of movie in specified context, realize and discuss about it,
Write original story and encourage creativity in the context of a given subject,

Shoting in the above-mentioned context and while doing it explore the business rules, the aesthetic and technical dimension of making film.

At the end of the semester assignments must be submitted depending on this coverage.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

Based on a theoretical and practical teach through semester student prepares his own work for the end of the period. This work and class participation is evaluation at the end of the semester.

Assessment Criteria

Practical work and class participation are the most important factors in creating opinion about students capability. 70% of measurement and evaluation criteria is the practical project though, the student must fulfill both criteria to be evaluated. If student didn t participate and attend classes even if delivers on time his practical work is not subject to evaluation and automatically fails.

Course Policies and Rules

80% of the course are required to attend. Student give signature at the beginning of each class. Important rule of the class is to be on time and without delay. Timely delivery of practical work is essential. The student is encouraged and if it s necessary especially directed to the creative aspects. All the relevant information required about delivery of the practical project will be given two months before deadline (at least). Those students who did not deliver practical project on deadline will not be accepted.
