Course Objective

Categories in Cinema I has been opened as a department of scenario writing and department optional lesson.
The aim of this course taken by department of scenario writing and department of cinema students is as follows:
The students are supposed to learn the categories which have a significant place in the global cinema that has born witness new forms as well as social and cultural factors of documentaries and films since the onset of cinema. In this course, we aim to examine historical and cultural developments of important categories and their formal and contextual features.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1	know the categories having an important place in cinema history, explain their evolution, know their features, and give examples
2	explain historical and cultural developments of categories correlatively the art of cinema
3	know and distinguish the cinema aesthetic of categories, and explain this on sample films
4	correlate the categories, compare and comment on them
5	comprehend the place and importance of categories, distinguish them in accordance with their rising periods and comprehend it.
