Course Objective

When considered as a communication system, the importance of cinema language emerges. There is no doubt that this language should be known by the audience to be understood. One of the methods to understand the cinema language is varietal reading. The aim of this course is to provide the reading of sub texts by means of categories.


Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   learn the historical development of the film categories
2   comprehend the function of the film categories
3   comprehend how the categories are perceived by film critics and audience
4   learn the importance of being a good viewer who is a part of an art production
5   learn to use the varietal methods correctly while analysing the films
6   learn to have a research skill and critical point of view.
