Course Objective

To explain the gender representation forms of film and other art fields as social phenomenon and to determine the differences between gender and sex and to examine these differences in a critical view.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To identify the relations between film and gender
2   To consider films which have traditional narrative structures and to criticize the gender approachs to these films.
3   To evaluate the socio-politics and the cultural function of cinema, especially, on creating the gender stereotypes.
4   To have up-do-date information on the formation of gender as a social institution;
5   To explain how the gender roles are understood under the influence of social structure;
6   To associate the transfer of gender roles and patriarchy;
7   To determine the perspectives that subordinates the woman in the gender relations.

9 The analysis outside Oidipus: Monstrous feminine and Alien films

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

1.
The students must gather and discuss topics related to the subject of the week and mark important notes on the related topics.

The courses will be held as seminars with participation of all the students and the lecturer. With this more intense knowledge will be obtained.

It is expected from the course to take place in a democratic condition which allows the students make arguements and ask relative questions.
