Course Objective

Comparative study of films particular to melodramatic cinema from Hollywood, Yeşilçam and other countries, reading of films. Comparative anaylsis and evaluations of film adaptations samples made from novel, drama etc.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Study of relation between 'woman' and 'melodrama' winthin the context of films,
2   Study of Freudian approach and melodrama within the context of Hollywood cinema,
3   Comparative study of samples from Hollywood, Yeşilçam and other national cinemas.
4   Analysis of the concept of post-melodrama through samples,
5   Comparison of various cinematic samples within the context of culture, mentality, social transformation and aesthehtics.

Assessment Criteria

It is measured by examination, presention of report and report which is needed to include a literature review on the topic studied by students, data collection, complation, analysis and its results.
