Course Objective

The objective of this course is to create original, innovative textile designs and surfaces with fabric manipulation tecniques by using experimental methot with an intellectual, at the same time, creative process.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1.Upon the successful comletion of course, students will be able to: describe different fabric manipulation techniques,
2   2. implement fabric manipulation techniques into different textile surfaces,
3   3. have innovative and creative approaches by using experimental method,
4   4. create fabric surface that havedifferent surface, form and texture using mixed techniques together,
5   5. decide on the right area of use.

3 3. Manipulations that are made with dyeing techniques,
4 4. Manipulations that are made with printing techniques ( mold. stencil printing)
5 5. Serigraph, digital printing,
6 6. Manipulations made with sewing tecniques (drapei binding, nervure, pili, ruffle-flounce)
7 7. Gathering, bulge, quilting, enchanded ( enkürüste),
8 8. Embroidery technique,
9 9. Hand embroidery, machine embroidery,
10 10. Modern techniques,
11 11. Laser cut,
12 12.Manipulations that are made with ready-made tools,
13 13. Cords, lacing, and scallops, rick rack and ready-made strips, ribbons and strips)
14 14. Deciding on the usage areas of fabric samples, product design.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Instructor conveys the course to the students by supporting it with lecture notes and visual presentations that he/she prepared from diffirent sources. Written and visual meterial that is the prıject topic will be researched and then the materials that will be the source of design will be selected. Instructor putsemphasis on experimental practice that increaes the creativity in the project stage of tjhe students. Also, the instructor adopts solution oriented attitudes to the problems experienced in production.

Assessment Criteria

In the evaluation phase of course; firsty, students will be graded on creativity in design, invention, innovative approach, suitability to the product, selection and suitability of meterial and technique. Assignment and presentation will also take place in the evaluation.
