Course Objective

In this course, it is aimed to teach the students the history of ceramics-tile art, to have them know the raw materials of ceramics-tile, to classify the products, learn to prepare initial mud, and the methods to shape that mud theoretically.

In this course, the subjects within the program will be taught theoretically with students participation. Furthermore, when necessary, students will be able to see the materials visually.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

Because of being a theoretical course, we will make use of lecture notes and resources. Moreover, an earthenware centre will be chosen and a research project on earthenware production will be prepared.

Assessment Criteria

Mid term, the project and the final exam will be considered in evaluation.

Due to its being a theoretical course, at the end of each lesson students will be asked to give a knowledge recycle about the lesson. So, the students will always concentrate on the lesson. Participations will be evaluated according to the criteria mentioned above. The next lesson s subject will be given to the students so that they will make preliminary preparation.
