Course Objective

The aim of this course is teach the students the techniques, materials, concepts and rules which are necessary for the restorations of illuminations, preliminary the ones used in architecture.


Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   and apply the rules, basic concepts which are necessary for the restoration of the illuminations in constructions,
2   learn the techniques of projects and applications carried out in restorations. Make decisions on protection, cleaning, completion, reproduction and apply them,
3   learn the material and production techniques applied in restoration studies, and improve the application skills,
4   make correct field analysis in restorations, define and apply practice stages correctly,
5   document restoration and application stages by means of technical reports and drawings, catalogues, reports and projects.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

1- The instructor encourages the students to learn and apply the rules and concepts for the restoration of the illuminations in architecture; he, also, lead them to analyze the restoration studies by researching and observing them. Furthermore, he instructs the order of the acquired data, the basic concepts and their correct application.
The instructor leads the students to document the project application with the help of technical reports, designs and drawings, and then to turn them into projects related to restoration.
2- We aim to have the students comprehend the analysis study to be done before the restoration studies. The students are expected to learn and use that analysis together with the application techniques. Moreover, the students are to learn and apply the materials and repair techniques on the restoration.
3- The students are to foresee and apply the application stages in restoration studies; carry out a common project with different disciplines.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

The grading is based on the students attendance by having done preliminary survey, their participation into the solutions and suggestions sensibly, the suitability of their solution suggestions, the complementation of conservation anticipations, and their applications.
Students studies will be evaluated by considering their learning and using the illumination conservation, by the content of assignments and projects and the quality of presentation, the applications of suggestions.

Assessment Criteria

Exams will be evaluated out of 100. This grade will be determined according to the number of the questions to be asked in the exams. And also, the project, the assignment presentation and the attendance will be evaluated out of 100.
