Course Objective

Knowledge about the gene structure has priority in the field of people who are working on genetics. First purpose of this course is to understand gene structure and its regulation in the genome. Second, to learn the principles of genetics methods used in diagnosis, why, where and how will they be used.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Learning basic structures of genome, DNA, RNA, transcription, translation
2   To become knowledgeable about gene structure, regulatory elements of the gene
3   Understanding the fundamentals of common molecular techniques in molecular genetics
4   Gain knowledge about genetics tests used in clinical diagnosis
5   Understanding the fundamentals of genetics tests used in cancer and DNA based tissue typing
