Course Objective

The aim of this course is to teach the students the methods and techniques to determine the textiles used in our traditional life ( trousseau, clothing and home textiles ) in different regions. Furthermore, we aim to have the students analyse the thread used for these textiles, and to have them determine the necessary data about the woven cloth in accordance with the required information, and to have them weave a sample textile.

3   document the local textiles,
4   classify the local textiles,
5   analyse the threads and fabrics used in the local textiles,
6   make experimental weavings after the analysis.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

After giving academic information on the subjects in the lessons, we aim to create opportunities for the students to make researches in different regions, and have them make experimental weavings after these studies.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

The thread analysis work of the students will be evaluated in accordance with the studies they have done by the knowledge they have gained, and also the results of the experimental weavings done with the local threads will be evaluated.

Assessment Criteria

In accordance with the aim of the course, the students must be able to determine some data acceptable to the original form, such as suitable weaver s reed, thread, firmness and dimension etc.)

1- 80% attendance is compulsory.
2- The equipment ( loop, ruler, scissors, plotting paper, etc.) necessary for the course must be provided by the students.
