Course Objective

The aim of this course is to teach the students to study the composition patterns, the origin of patterns, their usages and history used in regional carpets as well as field study, comparison, browsing the literature and analyzing the patterns by separating them into parts, using related techniques, and then presenting their studies as a report.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

The instructor asks the students to prepare a project on pattern analysis of carpets of a certain time or/and region. During project study, the student presents the data he has gathered. The data are discussed in the lessons, and the student goes on his study using the necessary techniques. At the end of the project, the data is synthesized and written as a report, and the results are assessed.

Assessment Criteria

Assessment will be carried out in accordance with the content of the project submitted by the student after his study, his endeavour during the project, his ideas, his participating in the discussions.

Project files are to be submitted at the fixed time. Any files which are not submitted in time will not be assessed.
