Course Objective


The 16th century is the brightest period for the Tiling Art. The aim of this course is to teach the students, both theoretically and practically, the general features of the important Tiles of this period.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   know the history of the Ottoman Tiling Art
2   learn the differences of the Ottoman Tiling Art in the 16th century,
3   recognize the pattern and form features of the 16th century Tiles,
4   discuss the importance of the 16th century Ottoman Tiles in the world literature, in terms of art,
5   make and apply designs which explain and interpret the 16th century best.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

This course is both theoretical and practical. The practices will focus on the 16th century Ottoman Tiles. The results will be discussed in the lessons.
