Course Objective

This course aims to introduce concepts and principles of software engineering, software process, software development methodologies, UML for systems modeling.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To recognize the importance of systems engineering approach to systems development.
2   To recognize the importance of abstraction and modeling.
3   To be fluent with UML for systems modeling.
4   To be able to use a CASE tool.
5   Ability to propose and evaluate different models for a software project.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

The course is taught in a lecture, class presentation and discussion format. Besides the taught lecture, group presentations are to be prepared by the groups assigned and presented in a discussion session. In some weeks of the course, results of the homework given previously are discussed.
