Course Objective

In this course, basic concepts and principles of cognitive behavioural theory and psychotherapy approach belongs to this theory will be introduced; topics including cognitive behavioural assessment, case conceptualization, structuring the first and subsequent interviews, techniques utilized in the identification and modification of automatic thoughts, intermediate beliefs and core beliefs, termination of treatment and relapse prevention will be covered. The theoretical knowledge will be supported with the help of case examples and hypothetical homeworks.

1   Be able to explain basic principles and concepts of cognitive behavioural psychotherapy
2   Be able to describe characteristics of cognitive behavioural assessment and case formulation
3   Be able to explain structure of the first therapy session and beyond
4   Be able to describe the techniques used to identifying automatic thoughts, intermediate beliefs, and core beliefs
5   Be able to describe the techniques used to modifying automatic thoughts, intermediate beliefs, and core beliefs
6   Be able to explain principles of termination and relapse prevention
