Course Objective

Fiber art occurred at the end of the 20th century. It includes criticism and comments on movability in contemporary art which has a transdisciplinary pattern, creating and sustaining new sources by sharing technical, aesthetic, conceptual and technological data and fiber art practices.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Having knowledge about the position of artistic textiles within the art concept.
2   Having knowledge about fiber art according to its methods and materials.
3   Having knowledge about the attempts of establishing fiber art as an art form.
4   Having knowledge about the relationship between the fiber art and conceptual art and its position in international art platform.
5   The interaction between the fiber art and the contemporary art and the innovation of this interaction for the fiber art,
6   Being able to make scientific research, presentation about the fiber art and make criticise and analyse the practices

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

In the first week, the lecturer assigns students the research subjects and sources about the lesson. The lecturer covers the subject by using lecture notes from various sources and visual presentation. During the rest four weeks, students present their research subjects as a lecture by using visual presentation and lecture notes from various sources.

Assessment Criteria

Students abilities of making presentation of their research subjects by reviewing the literature, gathering data, compiling, analysing and reporting the conclusion are evaluated with the reports they prepared, their presentations and final exam.
