Course Objective

The objective of this course is to integrate and build upon the knowledge and skills have been acquired through previous coursework. It focuses on all aspects of business (accounting, finance, marketing, operations, human resources, information systems) and industry and competitive environment in which it operates, it s long-term direction and strategy, resources and competitive capabilities, and prospects for success. It tries to enable learners how the business analyze, assess its skills, attributes and capabilities and operates for good business performance .Key activities of the course include exploration of why good strategic management leads to good business performance, understanding of the basic concepts and tools of business policy and strategic analysis, and mastery of the methods of crafting and competently executing a well-conceived strategy.Finally, it explores the social, moral, and ethical consequences of strategic management decisions.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1 Understand the terms, concepts, models related to business functions and it s relations in order to develop capacity to think strategically about business activities.
2   2 Integrate the knowledge gained in earlier core courses to show how the various pieces of the business puzzle fit together.
3   3 Identify global threats and key strategies to insulate a company from these threats.
4   4 Evaluate strategic management methods, tools and techniques for effective strategic analysis.
5   5 Build skills in conducting strategic analyses in a variety of industries and competitive situations, reasoning carefully about strategic options, and applying strategic analysis to make sound and ethical strategic decisions.
6   6 Gain skills to the broad view point to problems required of top management
7   7 Improve oral and written business communication skills by presenting ideas in correct logical and appropriate manner in different context.
8   8 Develop team work skills for overcoming challenges that lead to group dysfunction.

Assessment Criteria

1. Mid-term will be based on understanding, synthesis and evaluation of the material discussed in class.
2. Each student will prepare and conduct an analysis of a specified number of peer-reviewed journal articles and/or books according to a pre-designated schedule.
3. Presentations will be assessed on preparation, understanding, knowledge, capacity to structure, oral communication skills, ability to respond to questions and manage discussion.
