Course Objective

This course provides a master level discussion on the management of innovation and change in the organizational context with a strategic and operational perspective. Whilst providing strategic tools, equipments and a framework for managing innovation and change process in the organizations, the course mentions the importance of the human analytical and interpersonal skills required for the organizational intervention and development. Furthermore, the course focuses upon the environmental constraints and resources that would support the innovative structure of the organization and the capability to settle the change process. Therefore, this course will apply the tools of analysis for innovation capability, characteristics of new projects, core competencies, assessment and intellectual property in addition to adaptation of these analysis to change process.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Provide better understanding on how organizational innovation process develop and how the organization is prepared for an organizational intervention for a change.
2   Demonstrate understanding of the application of change management in order to support the organization to achieve its aims or objectives with the least complexity and confusions among its members and structures
3   Demonstrate understanding of the application of the conceptual framework for assessing the innovative capabilities of an organization.
4   Demonstrate understanding strategic relationship between the organizational innovation and the change process for gaining competitive advantage in the market
5   Identify learning need/issues, training and development need, designing methods and materials to meet those needs, in the context of organizational change whilst considering the potential role of the change agent.
6   Utilize tools of innovation management to map innovation activities and its reflection to management of change in the organization
7   Be aware of the sensitive conditions of innovation process regarding its multiplier effect on competitive advantage and the dynamic structure of change in the organizational context.
