Course Objective

Numismatics is the study of currency including coins, medals, tokens and every other kind prints on metal. Coin printing and coins from ancient Greek-Roman and Byzantine periods constitute an important part of Turkey's archaeology. Collecting these materials is an independent field of study. The course involves with the analysis of the standards, measurement and recording, coins may also be studied to follow the development of coin printing through inscription and descriptions. Materials from the field of Numismatics which occupies a prominent place among collectable items will betaught via a wide range of examples.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

2   Students acquire information about pound, value and measurment systems.
3   Students learn the standards of Ancient Greek coinage system
4   Students learn the standards of Ancient Greek coinage system
5   Recording and evaluation systems are taught
