Course Objective

The objective of this course is to evaluate contemporary Turkish literary texts in the light of literary theories arising in the Western world.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   At the end of this course, the student will be able; To get information about the basic literary theories which arouse in the Western world,
2   To learn the history of modern Turkish literature,
3   To grasp how the literary theories he/she has learnt can be applied to the texts he/she has read,
4   To see the differences in the application of these theories in such different genres as novel, poetry, drama, and short story,
5   To follow the change in Turkish language in the development of modern Turkish literature.

Assessment Criteria

1. The examinations are prepared in a way that they will evaluate the students ability to assess the knowledge they get during the classes with a critical perspective.
2. Students are expected to give answers to open-ended questions so that they can develop their ability to write academically. Fort his reason, the answers should be in the essay form.
